Dales of Thirsk Ltd are very proud of our heritage and our people.

As a family the Collinson’s have run Dales, a monumental mason company since the 1960’s, passed down from 3 generations of the Dale family originating in 1880 and now headed up by Neil Collinson.

Starting out as memorial masons and diversifying into kitchen and bathroom surfaces, the Dales’ team have a true passion for and expert knowledge of stone products.

Specialising in Granite, Marble, Slate, Yorkshire Stone, Limestone and a variety of Quartzstone, the Dales’ team are expertly trained and take huge pride with each bespoke piece of stone being manufactured and finished to your exact requirements whether it’s a memorial or a kitchen worktop.

The Collinson Hammer

dales-hammerWe have a great sense of history when we use this hammer. Its actual age is unknown but we do know it has been used by at least 3 generations of memorial masons. Used by Cyril Dale prior to Don Collinson and now by Neil, the hammer is solely used for bespoke hand lettering and carving.

The hammer is a true symbol of traditional art and craft.
